1. Program provider and acceptance
The Basic HACCP Certificate Program is provided by the Institute of Food Safety, Health & Hygiene, Inc. Enrollment, attendance, payment, or sponsorship of a learner constitutes acceptance of these terms and any written proposal governing the specific offering. If a signed proposal conflicts with these general terms, the signed proposal controls for that offering.
2. Enrollment and individual participation
Each enrollment belongs to the identified learner and may not be shared. Learners must provide accurate information, participate under their own identity, complete their own assigned work, and comply with reasonable instructor directions. A sponsoring organization may substitute a learner before training begins if the Institute approves the substitution and records the correct identity.
3. Fees and payment
Program fees, deposits, payment deadlines, travel costs, taxes, and included services are disclosed in the written proposal or registration communication before payment is requested. Enrollment or a training date is not confirmed until the stated acceptance and payment requirements are satisfied.
4. Cancellation, rescheduling and refunds
Unless the written proposal states otherwise:
- A cancellation received before training begins is eligible for a refund of amounts paid, less disclosed nonrecoverable travel, venue, shipping, or third-party costs already incurred for that engagement.
- After instruction begins, completed instructional services are nonrefundable. The Institute may offer a rescheduled seat or credit when circumstances reasonably justify it.
- Requests to reschedule a private on-site or webinar class should be submitted as early as possible. Any incremental nonrecoverable costs caused by the change will be identified to the sponsor.
- If the Institute cancels and cannot provide an acceptable replacement date, the affected program fee will be refunded.
5. Delivery requirements
Webinar learners are responsible for reliable internet access, current browser software, working audio, access to course materials, and participation in the live classroom. On-site sponsors are responsible for a safe and accessible training space, reasonable presentation equipment, and uninterrupted training time.
6. Completion and certificate decision
Payment or attendance does not guarantee a certificate. A learner must complete at least 15 instructor-led hours, all eight project activities, an industry-specific HACCP plan and presentation, and achieve the current 85% passing standard on the controlled project rubric. Testing out is not permitted.
The Institute bases the certificate decision on controlled attendance, activity, project, presentation, and rubric records. Decisions may be appealed under the published Appeal Process.
7. Integrity and prohibited conduct
Impersonation, unauthorized assistance, plagiarism, fabrication of records, misuse of artificial intelligence to replace a learner’s required work, unauthorized access to assessment materials, or interference with another learner may result in removal from the offering and a withheld certificate decision. Appropriate assistive technology and authorized learning support remain permitted.
8. Intellectual property and recording
Course materials, activities, assessment instruments, rubric materials, graphics, recordings, and instructor presentations are protected intellectual property. Learners and sponsors may use provided materials for the enrolled learner’s internal educational purposes but may not reproduce, sell, publish, distribute, create derivative courses from, or record live instruction without prior written permission.
9. Certificate use
The certificate is individual, nontransferable, and valid for a five-year term. Holders may state that they completed the named program and may share an unaltered certificate. They may not claim to be certified, licensed, registered, or accredited by the Institute, ANAB, ASTM, or the International HACCP Alliance; create a post-nominal acronym; alter or transfer the certificate; separately use Institute or accreditation marks; or imply approval of a workplace, facility, product, process, or HACCP plan.
10. Privacy, accommodations, complaints and appeals
Personal and program records are handled under the Privacy & Confidentiality notice. Reasonable accommodations may be requested under Accessibility & Accommodations. Concerns may be submitted through the Complaint Process, and adverse program decisions may be challenged through the Appeal Process.
11. Changes and severability
Material program changes are communicated before they become effective for affected learners. If a provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply. These terms are governed by applicable United States and California law without expanding or limiting rights that cannot lawfully be waived.
Questions about which terms apply to a particular private class should be resolved before accepting the written proposal or submitting payment.
